About
Sanzo Wada (1883–1967) was a Japanese painter, costume designer and color researcher. His Dictionary of Color Combinations, first published in the early 1930s, collects 348 palettes of two, three and four colors built from 159 named colors.
Wada Wardrobe uses those palettes as a starting point for outfits: each combination shows how its colors could be spread across clothes, plus hand-picked Pinterest looks.
About the roles
Base, secondary and accent roles are our heuristic, not Wada’s. Wardrobe neutrals (whites, greys, beiges and dark muted colors like navy or dark brown) take the largest pieces, darkest first; the other colors follow from calmest to brightest, so the most saturated one becomes the accent. Shares are 70/30, 60/30/10 or 50/25/15/10. Treat them as a suggestion.
